IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A motorcyclist is seriously hurt after a serious crash on Interstate 77 shut down the northbound lanes for over an hour Tuesday morning in Mooresville.

It happened just after 8 a.m. near the Williamson Road exit.

First responders could be seen spread out across the interstate as they tended to the injured in the toll lanes.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist entered the toll lanes to pass another vehicle and hit a delineator when they were trying to enter back into the general purpose lanes.

Troopers say the driver lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle.

They were air-lifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
