GREENVILLE, S.C. — Deputies say they are searching for four people of interest after two people were shot and killed and eight others were hurt at a South Carolina nightclub early Sunday morning.

Officials told our news partners WLOS the people they are looking for are from the Atlanta area.

A sheriff’s deputy reported a disturbance inside the Lavish Lounge Greenville just before 2 a.m. Sunday and saw a large crowd running out of the building, according to ABC News. The deputy called for backup when someone started shooting.

Officials said deputies were able to get inside the building and starting giving medical attention to victims before EMS crews arrived at the scene.

The names and precise conditions of the victims weren’t immediately released, but deputies said some of the victims were taken to the hospital in critical condition while others had non-life threatening injuries.

No one was immediately taken into custody, but the sheriff’s office had “some suspect information.”

Deputies believe the shooters left in various cars and they are looking for at least two gunmen, maybe more. They said they have video of the shooting that was posted and it shows at least two shooters.

A Facebook post from the club said Foogiano was scheduled to perform Saturday night. A representative told the Associated Press the rapper is safe.

It is unknown what started the shooting or who initiated it, but band members were somehow involved, deputies said.

Authorities said there were several hundred people inside the club at the time of the shooting. The gathering was in violation of South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster executive order, which restricts nightclubs and any type of concert during the pandemic.

The sheriff’s office is reaching out to the governor’s office to find out if this particular club filed an appeal to have those customers.

If the club is found to be in violation, it could face civil charges.

Saturday afternoon, our news partners WLOS attended a vigil at the nightclub, where hundreds of people gathered to mourn and push for an end to the violence.
