LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A second-grade student brought a fake hand grenade to school for show-and-tell, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
Pumpkin Center Primary School notified officials after discovering the device around 8 a.m. Friday, officials said. A deputy was dispatched to the school and, as a precaution, asked the school to conduct a routine fire drill.
The deputy determined the device was fake, and students were then allowed to return to the classroom, officials said.
Deputies said the device was returned to the second-grader's parents.
No one was injured in the incident.
