GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — At least four people were shot inside a Gaston County home Thursday morning, according to police.

The Gaston County Police Department said the call came in around 8:40 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, police discovered four people with gunshot wounds inside a home in the 2600 block of Forbes Road, near Highway 321.

At the scene, Channel 9 saw multiple Gaston County police officers as well as the district attorney working around crime scene tape.

Neighbors told Channel 9’s Ken Lemon they are worried about the people who live at the home and are anxious to learn more information about what happened there.

Channel 9’s Dave Faherty spoke to construction crew working nearby. They said about 5 or 6 shots were fired.

A close family friend of the family stopped by the scene around 11:15 a.m. and spoke with Faherty briefly before heading to the hospital. She said she’s best friends with the woman who lives inside the home.

“She actually works with me and didn’t show up for work today,” she said. “I started to worry because she never doesn’t show up.”

Investigators have yet to release any information on the shooter, including whether or not the suspect has been taken into custody.

The Gaston County Police Department is asking residents to avoid the area for the duration of the investigation.
