CHARLOTTE, N.C. — New safety measures are about to be put in place nearly two years after two boys died along a southwest Charlotte road.
City leaders awarded a contract to a construction company to build a sidewalk on West Tyvola Road where the accident happened that killed Jeremy Brewton and Kadrien Pendergrass who lost their lives in early 2012.
A delivery truck driver hit the boys in a spot where there's no sidewalk.
The sidewalk project is expected to finish a year ahead of schedule, with construction slated to start this April and finish in June and will cost $720,000.
