State plans to start taxing sports betting companies more

NORTH CAROLINA — North Carolina plans to start taxing sports betting companies more.

State Representative Donny Lambeth told a newspaper in Raleigh the House and Senate both agreed to increase the tax rate for eight gambling partners.

North Carolina currently taxes revenue at 18%.

Sources told WRAL the new rate will be between 20% and 25%.

The change would be part of a new budget when it’s approved.
