STATESVILLE, N.C. — The city of Statesville is lifting mandatory water restrictions.

The decision comes after the latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows Iredell County moved from a severe drought to a moderate drought.

Residents are still encouraged to conserve water whenever possible.

The city said it could go back to mandatory restrictions if the drought gets worse.
