PINEVILLE, N.C. — Pineville police said they responded to fights outside the Carolina Place Mall on Black Friday that placed stores on lockdown.

Officers told Channel 9 that two groups of people got into a fight at the mall just before 4 p.m.

Officials said a few stores were placed on lockdown for a short time while police resolved the incident.

"Pineville Officers who were working off-duty at the mall arrived within seconds and both groups dispersed immediately. There was one report that someone in the group flashed a handgun, but that is unconfirmed at this time," said Lt. Corey Copley.

"It's dangerous," said the manager of SAS Shoes, Susan Pettus. “People get crazy. They have to slow down.”

Authorities said no one was injured during the fights, and no arrests were made.
