Stretch of I-85 south in Cabarrus County to shut down next week for roadwork

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation said three southbound lanes of Interstate 85 in Cabarrus County will shut down one night next week to put in pavement markings.

Officials said three lanes from just north of Lane Street down through Highway 29 north of the Rowan/Cabarrus line will close from 9 p.m. to midnight Thursday.

In the video above, Traffic Team 9’s Mark Taylor lays out the alternate route drivers will need to take.

Then, the entire southbound side of the interstate in that same stretch will shut down from midnight to 6 a.m. Friday.
