MOORESVILLE, N.C. — The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is sharing a batch of surveillance pictures that show a man and woman stealing packages from the front porch of a Mooresville home.

Homeowner Theresa Kochalka told Channel 9 she heard her motion sensor chime twice Thursday afternoon. After the second time, she walked out just in time to see a red SUV driving off. She looked back on her surveillance camera and she saw a man snatching a package from her porch.

"It gets you in the stomach, it gets you in the head," Kochalka said.

She said she was making dinner inside when cameras captured the man and woman approaching her front door, then taking off with her grandchildren’s Christmas gifts.

"They've taken something bigger than a present and a gift, they really have taken a sense of my security away," Kochalka said.

Reports from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office show thieves stole a package from a home down the street on the same day. Detectives believe it's the same pair.

"They're very, very bold. It doesn't seem like they're worrying about getting caught," Detective Patrick Erwin said.

Investigators said thieves may be taking advantage of the traffic along Brawley School Road and scoping out houses.

Kochalka hopes the pictures will help someone identify them before they strike again and that her story will remind others to be watchful

"It's a great time of the year, we can't let other people spoil our fun, we have to be mindful," Kochalka said.

She said her neighbors are keeping an eye out for each other’s deliveries.

If you're ordering from Amazon, one option is Amazon Locker. The service allows you to have packages delivered to a nearby 7-11 or QuickTrip stores instead of your front door.
