CHARLOTTE — Saturday is a big day for the Carolina Thread Trail, a regional network of connected greenways, trails, and blueways — it’s National Trails Day. To celebrate, the Thread Trail is offering free guided hikes and bike rides throughout the day in multiple locations.
Space is limited on the guided tours and advance registration is requested.

Here are some of the events being offered:
9 a.m. guided hike at Pharr Yarns Family Trail in McAdenville.
9 a.m. guided hike at Forney Creek Trail in Denver.
9 a.m. guided hike at Lake Whelchel Trail in Gaffney
9 a.m. bike ride at Lake Whelchel Trail in Gaffney
10 a.m. guided hike at Buffalo Creek Preserve in Mt. Pleasant (North Carolina)
10 a.m. guided hike at Rocky Creek Trail in Great Falls
Several other family-friendly events are also taking place for National Trails Day, including a celebration at Tuckaseege Park in Mount Holly from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and community day on Main Street in McAdenville from 4 to 9 p.m.
