Team behind Supperland dishes on vision for new Dilworth restaurant

CHARLOTTE — Husband-and-wife team Jeff Tonidandel and Jamie Brown have unveiled the name of their new high-end restaurant in Dilworth. They are also breaking down plans about what to expect.

Leluia Hall should open by early summer 2023 at 1829 Cleveland Ave. — formerly home to Bonterra, which closed in December after 22 years. Demolition on that 5,254-square-foot space is slated to begin in September.

The name is a mashup of hallelujah and alleluia, giving a nod to the building’s history as a church. A church has been on that site since 1896, with the current brick building dating to 1915.

The Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group and its partners paid $3.8 million for that 0.51-acre parcel earlier this year.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the name, decor, menu direction and story all come together for a new, unique dining experience in Charlotte,” Tonidandel says.
