Shine is the first of four teens to be charged in the death of Echeverria de Gomez outside her east Charlotte apartment in April.

Echeverria de Gomez's slaying sent a wave of emotion through the largely Hispanic east Charlotte neighborhood.

Police said Shine and three other teens robbed Echeverria de Gomez and shot her to death outside her apartment complex on Barrington Drive while she was waiting for a ride to work.

The other three suspects are just 15, 16 and 17 years old. They all face murder and robbery charges.

Shine's court date was pushed to Sept. 13.
