CHARLOTTE — Tepper Sports and Entertainment is proposing a 4,400-seat indoor venue adjacent to Bank of America Stadium.

TSE is not seeking public funding with the project.
Plans call for the venue to hold 80 to 100 events a year.
It won’t be big enough for Beyonce or Ed Sheeran but this new concert venue will fill a need for medium-sized acts.
There is a venue of roughly that size in the Music Factory, the Skyla Credit Union Ampitheatre, but it is outdoor.
There isn’t much like the proposed project in the area when it comes to indoor venues.
The Fillmore in the Music Factory holds 1,800. Ovens Auditorium holds 2,500. Bojangles Coliseum can have around 10,000 people.
“What you see is a lot of venues in the 200 to 2,000 range, and then you see a real void in that 2,500 to 8,500 range,’ said Shawn Heath, deputy city manager.
Hotel operator Vinay Patel said the concerts at Bank of America Stadium and soon, at this new venue, will have a great for economic impact.
“It starts the beginning of an entertainment district,” Patel said. “When there’s something going on there, if I had 10 people working, I’m going to have 20 working, so that downstream effect of everything that they’re doing at their venues are amazing. And it’s great for the city and great for economic development.”
Construction is expected to start in 2027 and wrap up by 2030.
The Charlotte City Council will discuss it on Monday.
City officials will have to take a minor procedural vote to amend the ground lease for the stadium land.
