CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said several people broke into Albemarle Road Middle School overnight and set textbooks and other items on fire inside several classrooms.
Officers responded to an alarm call at the school on Democracy Drive around 3 a.m. and found that a group of people had broken into the school by breaking out some windows.
When officers arrived, they said the suspects tried to run. Police caught two juveniles and took them into custody.
Authorities did not say how many others were still on the run, but did tell Channel 9 that there was no structural damage to the school.
