Third, final person arrested in Statesville church break-ins

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police have arrested the third and final suspect they said was involved in a string of church break-ins.

Our news partners at the Statesville Record and Landmark report that Alexandra Shoemaker turned herself in to authorities on Thursday.

Shoemaker, Sean Knox and William Pennell IV are accused of stealing cash and electronics from six Statesville churches, officials said. The robberies span from May 24 to June 28.

They're charged with larceny and breaking and entering a place of worship.

Knox is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, Pennell on Thursday and Shoemaker on July 24.

  • May 24: South View Baptist Church on Wallace Springs Road
  • June 6: New Salem Church on New Salem Road
  • June 17: St. Mark Baptist Church on Old Wilkesboro Road
  • June 21: Ablieen Church of Christ on Bell Farm Road
  • June 27: Union Chapel Baptist Church on Gays Chapel Road
  • June 28: Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church
