BOONE, N.C. — The town of Boone is under a water boil advisory after a 12-inch water main ruptured along Highway 105, city officials said.
Around midnight, the highway was closed because of the break.
The break caused the entire town to lose water pressure.
City officials are advising all water consumers to boil all water used for consumption, including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation, or use bottled water.

Officials said that vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water. Officials are urging the water consumers to conserve water whenever possible.
Water customers may experience some banging in the pipes when water service is restored because of air that has entered the pipes, and the water may appear cloudy caused by air in the pipes.
