RHODHISS, N.C. — A tiny town in our area helped make the American Flag that was planted on the moon 50 years ago.

The flag was created at the Burlington Textile MIll in Rhodhiss, which is a small town situated in both Caldwell and Burke counties.
The mill was closed in the 1980s, but former workers told Channel 9 they remember painstakingly weaving the nylon that was used to create the historic flag.
