Tractor-trailer crashes into creek in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver had to be rescued after a tractor-trailer crashed into a creek off in south Charlotte.

The driver was awake and talking when taken to the hospital, troopers said.

The 35-year-old driver said he felt light-headed when just before the truck crashed off the Westinghouse Boulevard exit off of Interstate 77 southbound.

The driver who was from Texas was cited for failure to maintain lane control.

The road was closed for hours as hazmat crews cleaned the area.
