Power outages, downed trees represent aftermath of overnight storms

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Trees toppled and downed power lines represent the aftermath of overnight severe weather in the Charlotte region.

Duke Energy reported around 6 a.m. Friday that there were more than 1,600 customers who remained without power in Gaston County. There were more than 500 reported outages in Catawba County and 300 in Iredell County.

The city of Mooresville took a particularly hard hit from the storms Thursday night. Channel 9 crews could see large trees knocked down in yards across the area along Highway 150, and power lines down across streets.

It is unclear how long it will take to clear up the debris.

No injuries were reported.
