Troopers: Motorcycle chase reached speeds over 150 mph

PINEVILLE, N.C. — Troopers told Channel 9 they were involved in a high-speed motorcycle chase overnight that started in Matthews and stretched all the way to Anson County before heading back towards Mint Hill and ending in Pineville.

The 60-mile pursuit started on the inner loop of Interstate 485 near Highway 218 in the Mint Hill area and ended in the parking lot of the Carolina Place Mall.

Troopers said the motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, reached speeds up to 155 mph on Interstate 485.

They said the man was only wearing a t-shirt during the entire chase and he was taken to the hospital for a medical condition.

He's facing several charges, including speeding and failure to stop for an officer.

Troopers have not said what prompted the chase.
