Troopers: Suspect sought after bicyclist airlifted to hospital after hit-and-run

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A bicyclist in Burke County was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a car early Saturday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

It happened along Airport Rhodhiss Road. A man was riding with a friend early this morning when he was struck from behind, according to troopers. Both riders had flashing lights and were wearing reflective clothing.

Investigators are searching the area for a black, older-model Ford sedan with front-end damage.

Troopers are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect.
