Two 11-year-olds arrested, charged after throwing rocks at cars while riding e-bikes

CHARLOTTE — Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department recently responded to a call in Ballantyne after someone reported juveniles on e-bikes throwing rocks at passing cars.

Officers attempted a traffic stop after locating two e-bikes being ridden at an increased speed.

One of the juveniles stopped while the other fled. The second juvenile was later located at a nearby residence.

The e-bikes were seized and two 11-year-olds were arrested. Both were charged with failure to heed lights and sirens and no operator’s license.

The juveniles were released to their guardians.
