UNION CO., N.C. — Friday morning, a truck carrying chickens on US-74 veered off the side of the road in Union County east of Marshville. The driver overcorrected the truck and it turned over.
The driver was not seriously hurt, but many of the chickens died. The driver was heading to a Tyson chicken plant.
The live chickens are being loaded onto another truck. The driver has not been cited.
Two of the four lanes on US-74 will remain shut for several hours. The lanes should reopen around 12 p.m.
