Uber expands list of criminal offenses that disqualify someone from being driver

Uber is making its drivers undergo stricter background checks.

The rideshare company is expanding the list of criminal offenses that permanently disqualify someone from being a driver in the U.S.

Uber will not allow people with prior convictions for violent felonies, sexual crimes and stalking to be drivers.

The changes come after a New York Times investigation found Uber’s policies allowed people with many types of criminal convictions, including felonies, to be drivers.
