Woman charged in Union County stabbing death, deputies say

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — On Saturday, a woman was arrested in connection to a stabbing death near Mineral Springs in Union County.

Deputies have charged 25-year-old Emunah Nardeah Evans in the murder of 50-year-old David Bernard Hampton.

Officials were called to Sierra Chase Drive, in the Stonebridge neighborhood near Stonebridge Golf Club just after 11:30 a.m.

Hampton was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Detectives said they have been interviewing several people, but no one has been arrested

Investigators said Evans and Hampton lived together with other people at the home, but they are unclear of their relationship.

The victim's relative called 911.

"We're just trying to determine, was it self-inflicted, was it accidental or was it caused by another?" said Tony Underwood with the Union County Sheriff's Office.
