UNION COUNTY, N.C. — It’s teacher appreciation week across the country, and Union County is recognizing one of its newest teachers for the impact he’s already making on his students.

Dylan Chavis is a first-year teacher at Porter Ridge High School, the same school he graduated from just a few years ago. Whether he’s teaching virtually or in front of his class, Chavis said it’s important to keep his students engaged.

>> In the video at the top of this page, Channel 9′s Gina Esposito talks to Chavis to find out where he gets his inspiration.
