CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This is a sweet follow-up to a story that WSOCTV.com covered in April.
After media caught wind of a photo of Officer Scott Evett and baby Marley Cox high-fiving, it sparked interest in a deeper way.

Stacey Evett, Scott Evett's wife, found father Greg Cox on Facebook, messaged him and invited his family – including wife Jasmine Cox and baby Marley -- to dinner with Scott Evett and their two daughters, Kayla and Camryn Evett, at Macado's in the University area of Charlotte.
During dinner, the two groups talked about family, their upbringing and life.
They started by exchanging cultural lingo from hip hop culture that broke the ice after a few minutes.
Greg Cox told Channel 9 that it felt like they had known the Evetts forever.
Marley sat in Scott Evett's lap as the two fathers discussed their experiences, Scott as a white law enforcement officer and Greg Cox as an African-American man.
They also discussed current events in Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore.

As the group got deeper into the conversation, Greg Cox told Channel 9, he saw a common thread that a lot African-American men in the country aren't as fortunate to see – "that this man without his uniform only wanted the best for his family, just like I aspire to."
Greg Cox said he also saw that Scott Evett is a hero in his everyday duties as a police officer and taking care of his family.
"This is the beginning of what we believe to be a vision of what America will look like in the near future," Greg Cox said by email. "Just two normal, completely different families enjoying a common thread: Which is a really huge 'Blues Brothers Burger.'"
