SALISBURY, N.C. — A doctor reportedly caught working at the Salisbury VA hospital after drinking alcohol is getting his medical license back.
Channel 9 told you last year Dr. Gregory Earl Scott lost his license after seeing a patient while intoxicated.
It says he completed an assessment and inpatient treatment, so his license is being reinstated.
The paperwork filed with the medical board reveals Scott was diagnosed with alcohol use disorder.
Channel 9 tried to talk to the doctor after uncovering all this early last year.
He said he never saw patients while under the influence, which contradicts what he admitted to in the new paperwork.
Scott admitted to reporting to work in 2017 after consuming alcohol and was caught after seeing a patient.
Now, he has to follow a number of rules to keep his license. His hours are restricted. He has to continue with a monitoring program through the state. He can't drink. He also has to submit to random screenings.
Channel 9 has reached out to the Salisbury VA and asked if he will work there again. We’re waiting to hear back.
