ROCK HILL, S.C. — It’s a big day in the race to vaccinate for South Carolina as the state moves to Phase 1B and opens up eligibility to millions.
This group will include people 55 and older, frontline essential workers and anyone who’s at high risk of getting COVID-19.

It means more than half the state’s population is now eligible to get the vaccine.
The COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Galleria Mall in Rock Hill is looking for volunteers to help with the flood of new appointments. Vaccines are given Tuesdays through Fridays by appointment only.
Officials said they need more medical volunteers trained to give the shot.

Ninety volunteers are working at the clinic on Monday, and they have added extra stations to serve people faster. Health officials said the clinic may add more hours instead of more days.
“The days that we aren’t at the clinic are a much needed break quite honestly, for us,” Katie Quinn with the City of Rock Hill said.
The Rock Hill clinic will start allowing you to make an appointment up to a week ahead instead of only a day.
The clinic is still using the two-dose Pfizer vaccine, and will not be using the Johnson and Johnson shot.
