COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina voters have until 7 p.m. Tuesday to choose the Republican nominee in the special primary for the state’s U.S. Senate seat.
Ten Republicans are competing for the nomination, including Congressman Ralph Norman, former Governor Mark Sanford, Congressman Russell Fry and newly appointed Senator Darline Graham, the sister of the late Lindsey Graham.
Norman is holding his election night watch party in Rock Hill and said he believes he has the momentum to win.
He has campaigned as the most conservative candidate in the race, emphasizing lower taxes, smaller government and fewer regulations.
The latest polling from The Trafalgar Group shows Darline Graham leading the field with 26.4%, followed by Norman at 19.5%.
The poll, conducted Aug. 8-10 among 1,027 people, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.
The Republican winner will face Democrat Annie Andrews in November.
