CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The new Walmart on Independence Boulevard is sparking the interest of other businesses looking to move into the area.
Charlotte business leaders learned about the economic impact of the retail giant in the east Charlotte neighborhood during a luncheon Tuesday.
The Walmart opened in January, and customer traffic has remained high. Other businesses are taking notice of its early success.
“The customers are more eager for more development along there. We’ve also had other companies interested in being our neighbors behind us on Independence Boulevard,” said Walmart’s Marketing Manager Richard Hinkebein.
Walmart did not say which businesses have expressed interest in coming to the area.
