CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Trees are already blooming and that may not be good for allergy sufferers.

“Sneezing all the time,” allergy sufferer Dustie Bayer said. “You can ask anyone. It will be like five times in a row."

Trees are out pollinating and bees can even be seen in the area.

"When they pollinate, not only do you get the pollen, but you get stronger pollen," allergist Dr. Maeve O’Conner said.

In addition, the saturated ground is a breeding ground for mold spores.

"We're seeing a lot of mold sufferers,” O’Conner said. “People calling in, saying, ‘My symptoms are worse. Why is that?’ Well, look outside, it's raining and the humidity is up outside. That's a perfect time for mold suffering to get worse."

O’Conner said allergy sufferers need to be proactive when it comes to their symptoms.

"I think that the pollen season is going to be very high this year, so hopefully, allergy sufferers will come in early and not wait for those symptoms to get out of control," O’Conner said.
