CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wells Fargo is laying off 101 employees in the Charlotte area, the banking company announced Thursday.
The employees from the company's mortgage operation are part of a nationwide cut of 638 employees.
The workers will still get paid with benefits until Oct. 21.

Wells Fargo employs more than 25,000 people in Charlotte.
