HIGH POINT, N.C. — A woman accused of trying to abduct babies from hospitals across the Carolinas has been arrested in High Point, North Carolina, according to WTVD.
A spokesperson for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center said 36-year-old Linda Everett tried to take babies from neonatal units across North and South Carolina.
Everett was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny.
The woman later entered patient care areas without authorization, officials said. Staff alerted hospital police, who responded and questioned Everett.
Media outlets reported that Everett entered New Hanover Regional Medical Center without authorization earlier this month. She allegedly presented herself at the check-in desk on April 5 at the Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital, where she was denied entry.
No patients were injured or endangered, police said.
Everett was wanted on four warrants from hospital police.
Police sent a bulletin to hospitals across the Carolinas to be on the lookout for Everett.
Carolinas Medical Center did receive that warning but it is not known if she visited any Charlotte-area hospitals.
