CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A woman pleaded guilty Friday to a string of charges in a Catawba County incident that ended in a dramatic chase.
Diana Dayton, 36, pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted second-degree kidnapping, attempted common law robbery, five counts of breaking or entering, two counts of larceny, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and attempted breaking or entering.
The charges are connected to a string of crimes that happened in April of last year. Deputies said Dayton and Michael Bagwell were involved in several home invasion robberies while trying to elude officers. During a chase, officers opened fire on the Jeep they said the couple stole. Deputies said the couple ran through three roadblocks before they were caught.
Bagwell pleaded guilty to more than 20 counts last week and was sentenced to between 15 and 20 years in prison.
Dayton was sentenced to between 9 and 12 years in prison.
