CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kendra Stocks, a Charlotte woman who reported to jail a week ago after baptizing her daughter, was released from jail Friday.

Stocks was arrested because she baptized her daughter, which violated a court order.

The father has authority over decisions of his daughter, including religion.

Stocks said her seven days in jail were difficult.

"I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but it was a very tiny cell that had one bathroom and I was with 24 other girls in the pod that we were in,” Stocks said. “The food was horrible, the conditions were not ideal."

Stocks was originally supposed to be in jail for 10 days, but reached a plea deal and served seven days.
