LAKE WYLIE, S.C. — Deputies in York County are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Lake Wylie Monday.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, two people were found dead just before 9 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Blucher Circle across from the Buster Boyd Bridge.

On Tuesday, the York County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 25-year-old Mario Gregorio-Arteago and 28-year-old Glenda “Andria” Gregorio.

The sheriff’s office didn’t say who allegedly killed the other, or how they were connected.

Officials say there is no danger to the public, but people who live in the area say this is a shocking situation.

Daveion Poole often comes to the Buster Boyd Boat Ramp on Lake Wylie to clear his head. He says he watched people use the ramp to launch their boats and enjoy some time away from everyday life. He says it’s a place of peace for him, and he can’t imagine how something like this could happen here.

“When things like that occur, it makes you wonder. When you see the background, its beautiful,” he told Channel 9’s Eli Brand. “I’m not sure what occurred or what was in the person’s mind, but it’s unfortunate.”

For Poole, he hopes the families of the people involved can find closure.

“I hope everything comes to an easy state of mind sooner than later,” he said.

The popular restaurant Papa Doc’s is right next to the boat landing. They wanted to clarify it did not happen on their property.
