IRON STATION, N.C.,None — Police arrested a Lincoln County man for attacking two people with a machete.

The Gaston Gazette reported that deputies responded to a call on Saturday about 8 p.m. where someone reported a disturbance involving weapons.

When police arrived at the home on Old Plank Road in Iron Station, they noticed two victims, a man and a woman, with cuts to their arms. The female victim suffered from a broken arm.

Police said Rodney Dwayne Blount, 40, was wielding two machetes when he injured the women and then locked himself in a bedroom of the home while still armed.

Blount surrendered without incident and deputies seized two machetes, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police said Blount told them he attacked the women after getting into an argument with them, but stopped after noticing a 6-year-old boy was in the room.

Blount is charged with two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and assault in the presence of a minor.

Blount was jailed, with bail set at $39,000.

The two women were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
