Mallard Creek QB Williams Headed To The Heels

None — Mallard Creek star quarterback Marquise Williams verbally committed to UNC on Saturday at an announcement at his high school gymnasium, according to Inside Carolina.

Williams, a 6-3, 215-pound quarterback, chose the Tar Heels over finalists Michigan and Virginia Tech.

"A lot of people want to see me go to VT, but I'm going to go to Carolina," Williams said as he put on a Tar Heel hat.

Staying close to home was very important to Williams in choosing Chapel Hill. "The coaches are great and I love the atmosphere on campus. Also, staying in North Carolina is important to me," he said.

Williams is rated at the nation's 15th best quarterback by Scout.com.

Williams accounted for 40 total touchdowns, roughly 2,400 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing last season for Mallard Creek.
