CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — The chief financial officer of a major Charlotte developer is accused of stealing nearly $1 million.
John Dee worked for Harris Land Co.. Harris Land Co.'s corporate office is on Fairview Road in SouthPark.

Search warrants in the case state that Dee stole the money while he was in charge of the payroll.
Police said he wrote checks to other people to conceal the fraud.
Police said Dee admitted to some of the embezzlement. He is out of jail after posting a $50,000 bond.
