When Gedd Rigler decided he wanted to cancel his service with Sirius XM Satellite radio, he never imagined it would be virtually impossible.
Rigler spends a lot of time in his shop tinkering and listening to classical music on a local radio station. Since he enjoys the local station he decided to disconnect his Sirius antenna. He decided to cancel his service, but was not successful.
"I wrote and didn't get a response," said Rigler.
Instead he said he has been bombarded with calls to renew and notices in the mail.
"Started out as $158.40 and the latest was $160.55," recalled Rigler.
Rigler decided to call the company but that did not seem to yield positive results.
He said whenever he called, the representative would verify his name and confirm the purpose of his call was to cancel. Once he told them yes, he wanted to cancel, he would get disconnected.
He later discovered he wasn't the only one having trouble cancelling. He found hundreds of similar complaints online. One complaint said they were on the phone for over an hour with three representatives trying to cancel. Another person said their last call was mysteriously disconnected.
Action 9 reached out to Sirius via email. Their spokesperson did not address the complaints found online. They did however immediately call Rigler to apologize and then cancelled his subscription.
"I really do appreciate it. WSOC rocks!" exclaimed Rigler.
