ROCK HILL, S.C.,None — A man smashed a hole in a brick wall in an attempt to break into a Rock Hill Food Lion.
An alarm went off at the store on Heckle Boulevard early Sunday morning, according to a Rock Hill police report. When officers arrived they saw a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gloves running away. He escaped into a wooded area behind the store, investigators said.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene but was unable to find the man.
Officers think he created a hole in the brick wall in the back of the store to get inside, the police report says. A sledge hammer and crowbar were found in the woods.
The store has surveillance cameras but the man hid his face whenever he was in view, the report says.
Nothing was taken from the store.
