N.C. Girl, 3, Attacked By Coyote

TRINITY, N.C,None — A 3-year-old North Carolina girl may need to be tested for rabies after a 100-pound coyote attacked her while she was playing in her yard near Trinity.

Maggie Reed was jumping on the trampoline with her sister outside her Randolph County home on Wednesday.

A few minutes later, a coyote snatched her and was trying to drag her into the woods.

Maggie's 6-year-old sister yelled for their mother, who jumped on the coyote.

"We was having fun until that dog," said Maggie's sister.

"That is a terrifying feeling, when you walk out of the house and you see your baby in the mouth of a monster and you don't know what to do," said Maggie's mom.

About a 30 minutes later, a neighbor shot and killed the coyote.

Rabies tests were inconclusive and Maggie got away with some bruises.
