KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Police obtained arrest warrants for two men in connection with a Monday afternoon shooting death in Kannapolis.
In a news release, officers said they received a 911 call about the shooting just after 6 p.m. at the Cabarrus Arms Apartments off of Richard Avenue.
When police arrived, they learned Solomon Gebrezgi, 24, of Charlotte, had been taken from the scene in a vehicle.
A short time later that vehicle was found on South Main Street near Briarcliff Drive with Gebrezgi inside.
He was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast where he later died.
Arrest warrants were obtained for Chay Johnson, 25, and Oscar Leonard Jarmon, 20, of Kannapolis. They were charged with first-degree murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
Johnson was arrested without incident Tuesday afternoon.
Kannapolis police said they are attempting to locate additional people of interest involved in the case, so it is still an ongoing investigation.
