No injuries in 2nd bridge collapse at NC school

RALEIGH, N.C. — (AP) A second pedestrian bridge under construction at Wake Technical Community College has collapsed, but the construction company says no one was hurt.

Shaska USA said in a statement that a second bridge it was building at the school's northern campus was discovered down Friday morning.

Spokeswoman Lee Glandorf said work on the second bridge had been stopped as a precaution Thursday after another bridge collapsed, killing one worker and injuring four others.

The names of the victims have not been released.

The bridges are similar in design.

Glandorf says the company is investigating how the bridges collapsed. She did not immediately provide other details on the latest collapse.

Wake Tech broke ground in April on new projects under a 2012 borrowing agreement. The bridges were included in those projects.
