CASWELL BEACH, N.C. — A North Carolina man has drowned during a family trip to a beach.
Caswell Beach police Captain Sam Massey tells local media that 39-year-old Telley Knight of Clayton went missing for about 15 minutes Saturday afternoon at a public beach. He was eventually pulled out of the water by some swimmers a few yards down from where his family last saw him.
Massey says that several first responders and CPR-trained bystanders tried to resuscitate Knight until paramedics took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Massey says that a state chief medical examiner ruled the death an accidental drowning.
