RALEIGH — According to WTVD, Raleigh police said they have charged the father of a child who was the focus of an Amber Alert search with murder.
Two-year-old Tristan Blue was reported missing by 31-year-old Steven Daniel Blue Wednesday at his Raleigh apartment.
Blue told investigators he last saw Tristan at 7:45 a.m. Police were not contacted until 1:15 p.m., according to WTVD.
Investigators initially said they believed the child may have wandered outside and began an intensive search of the neighborhood.
The ground search for Tristan was called off due to darkness and was to begin again Thursday morning. Before 7 a.m. Thursday, detectives were seen collecting evidence from a car outside the apartment.
Just after 7, police said they were arresting Blue based on probable cause. He was taken to the Wake County Detention Center and held without bond.
Detectives have also charged the boy's mother, 25-year-old Briana Dangerfield, with child neglect in the case.
Police said Tristan's body has not been recovered.
