Police Investigate Possible Rape At Charlotte Motel

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Police in south Charlotte are questioning a man after a woman was allegedly raped at a motel.

Authorities responded to the Motel Six on Nations Ford Road just before noon on Monday. Police said an officer on duty was at the motel, responding to a different call, when the woman apparently began calling for help.

Detectives said the officer then approached a man in the parking lot, who jumped into a black Ford Mustang with a Tennessee license plate and took off.

Police said the man led them on a short chase to a neighborhood, where he was forced to stop in a dead end on Doverdale Lane. Authorities said after a short foot chase, they took the man into custody.

The woman was taken to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment. Detectives said she is Hispanic and speaks little English, so they are still trying to determine the extent of the assault.

People staying at the motel were shocked by the news of the rape allegations.

"Now that would be getting me nervous, what's going to happen?" said Gustavo Manzano.
