Police: Man robbed while trying to buy items from craigslist

GASTONIA, N.C.,None — Gastonia police are looking for two men in connection with a robbery in a craigslist scam.

Police are looking for 19-year-old Anthony Jefferies and 21-year-old Starion Lowery in connection with an incident that happened Monday.

A Statesville man saw an ad on craigslist selling a TV and PlayStation, police said. He texted the phone number listed in the ad and was told to go to a home on Weldon Street in Gastonia, where he was robbed, according to investigators.

"The house was vacant but one suspect met the victim on the front porch and directed him to the back of the house, where the two suspects pointed guns and demanded money," said Sgt. Jimmy Arndt. "The victim gave them his money and ran back to his van without being followed."

Police said Jefferies is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery, and Lowery is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call Gastonia police at 704-866-6702.
